Vintage Brass Elephant Claw Bell

The elephant claw bell dates back to the 17th century when they were first seen hanging from cords on either side of a “domesticated” elephant.  The purpose of the elephant claw bell is to warn pedestrians traveling the narrow paths of India that an elephant was approaching.
